Michael read law at the University of Leicester, England. Upon completion, he pursued his Bar Finals in London where he was eventually called to the Utter Bar of England and Wales and was made a member of the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in 1996. On his return, he immediately commenced his pupilage at a reputable firm where he had the opportunity to do conveyancing and corporate work. Due to the 1998 economic downturn, Michael was then asked to head the litigation department where he excelled. After about 2 years in practice, he was duly promoted to litigation partner of that firm by the end of 1999.
He is the co-founder of a small medium sized firm in Kuala Lumpur which he helped set up in 2003 where he worked for 10 years. That firm has since grown into a well-known and respected firm. And in 2013, he made the bold decision to chart his own path, founding Messrs K H Chong & Associates.

Michael brings expertise in navigating complex legal disputes across multiple practice areas and facilitating seamless property transactions. In addition to conveyancing and corporate work, he serves primarily as legal counsel and has represented clients across all tiers of the Malaysian Courts. His litigation work also focuses on contractual disputes, strata management disputes and general civil matters. His portfolio also includes debt recovery, enforcement proceedings against the debtors as well as insolvency proceedings. Apart from the above, Michael is also proficient in estate and probate matters whereby he has acted both as counsel and executor of estates. He also provides advice for clients when drafting Wills.

As the founding partner, Michael firmly believes in the importance of giving back to the society. Beyond our core legal services, he is actively involved in volunteering works and supporting charitable initiatives.
